How the year works

  • Every week has the same seven parts (circle time, books, a craft, a song, a snack, the letter pack, an outside game), so the children know the rhythm and only the theme changes.
  • The skills are the six areas of the observations checklist: social and emotional, language, early literacy, early math, moving, and thinking and exploring. Each week names the one or two it leans on hardest, so you know what to watch for.
  • Box-free: the materials are paper plates, paint, crayons, tape and the snack's groceries. Nothing comes in a box you have to buy.
  • Open-ended: each week has a process-art version of the craft, an invitation to play and a wonder wall, plus what changes for twos and mixed ages.
  • Swap freely: 12 more themes are ready to drop into any week: space, jungle, spring, camping, fairy tales, my body, mixing colors, shadows and light, opposites, water, trains, boats.
