Checked Oct 30, 2026 · Fall · October, November
One week on pumpkins for twos to fours: a five-line circle time, 4 books (3 free to read on Peabody), one craft with 3 materials, “Ring Around the Rosie” with its words, a snack from the Kitchen and the letter P.
Circle time
- Good morning song, then say each name together.
- Calendar: the day, the date and the weather.
- Ask: “How does a pumpkin start?”
- Sing: Ring Around the Rosie.
- Read: Meg and the Seed (level 3).
Threes and fours: ten to fifteen minutes; let a child hold the book.
Books
- Meg and the Seed (level 3, free on peabody.kids): A seed that will not hurry, like a pumpkin all summer long.
- At the Farm (level 3, free on peabody.kids): Where pumpkins grow, and who lives there.
- The Big Truck (level 2, free on peabody.kids): A truck in the mud, like the one that carries the pumpkins in.
- The Enormous Turnip (read aloud, level 5): A read-aloud: a vegetable so big it takes everyone to pull it up.
Craft: Pumpkin seed counting card
You need (3): orange card, round seed stickers, crayons.
- Draw a big pumpkin shape on the card (a grown-up can draw it).
- Stick on seeds: two for twos, five for threes, ten for fours.
- Count them out loud and write the number.
With a grown-up. No heat, nothing hot.
