Circle time: a five-line script
Five lines in the same order every day: a hello song with each child's name, the calendar and the weather, one question about the theme, the song, and the book. Pick the theme and the room's ages and the script fills in.
- Good morning song, then say each name together.
- Calendar: the day, the date and the weather.
- Ask: “What do you think is inside an apple?”
- Sing: Oranges and Lemons.
- Read: Meg and the Seed (level 3).
How long
Planning numbers, not targets: two or three minutes on laps for babies, about five for twos, ten to fifteen for threes and fours. When the room is restless, drop the calendar first and keep the song and the book.
