Checked Oct 30, 2026 · Fall · October, November
One week on leaves for twos to fours: a five-line circle time, 4 books (3 free to read on Peabody), one craft with 4 materials, “Pease Porridge Hot” with its words, a snack from the Kitchen and the letter L.
Circle time
- Good morning song, then say each name together.
- Calendar: the day, the date and the weather.
- Ask: “Why do leaves fall off the trees?”
- Sing: Pease Porridge Hot.
- Read: A Nest on the Hill (level 2).
Threes and fours: ten to fifteen minutes; let a child hold the book.
Books

- Go, Snail, Go! (level 3, free on peabody.kids): A slow walk outside, the way a leaf hunt goes.
- Pit, Pat (level 0, free on peabody.kids): Rain on the leaves, in a pattern little ones can tap.
- Who Lives Under the Log? (read aloud, level 5): A read-aloud: true facts about what lives under the fallen leaves and logs.
Craft: Leaf rubbing
You need (4): leaves from the walk, white paper, crayons with the paper off, tape.
- Tape a leaf under the paper.
- Rub the side of a crayon over it until the veins show.
- Try a second leaf in another color.
With a grown-up. No heat, nothing hot.
