Test day board
A calm screen for tests: a large quiet timer with no sound or colour changes, the clock, a noise light that turns amber and red if the room gets loud, and the instructions.
How to use it
- The board opens with a 45 minute quiet timer. Open its gear to change the length to your test time.
- Click the note and type your instructions, such as when to begin and what to do when finished.
- Press Listen on the noise light (the browser asks for the microphone), then F, then Start on the timer when the test begins.
Ideas for class
- Write the start time and the finish rule in the note so students do not need to ask.
- Leave the quiet timer visible so students can pace themselves without a chime to break their focus.
- The noise light is green while the room is quiet and turns amber, then red, if it gets loud; lower its limit in the gear for a silent test.
- Pause the timer if the test is interrupted, and press Resume to continue from the same time.
- Add 30 seconds or a few minutes for students who need extra time with a second timer.
- Show the clock beside the timer so students can tell the real time as well as the time left.

Questions
Why is there no sound at the end?
The quiet timer never plays a chime and never changes colour on purpose. The teacher decides when the test ends. If you want a chime, open the gear on the timer and choose a different look.
Can I use this for state or district tests?
It is only a clock and a note on a screen. Follow your school's testing rules about what may be displayed in the room and what may not.
Can I make the note bigger?
Yes. Open the gear on the Note widget and choose Large or Huge, or pull the corner of the widget to make it bigger.
Does the noise light record the room?
No. It measures how loud the room is, in the browser, as a number from 0 to 100, and that number is gone a moment later. Nothing is recorded, kept or sent. If you would rather not use the microphone, remove it and add the Voice level widget, a light you set by hand.
