Visual timer
A coloured disc that shrinks as time passes, so a child can see how much is left without reading a number.
10:00
Keys: Space start or pause · R reset · ← → 30 seconds · 1–7 the presets · M sound · F full screen
How to use it
- Choose a length: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, or Custom. The whole disc is the time you set.
- Pick a colour, then press Start. The coloured part shrinks clockwise as the time goes.
- Press F for full screen. At zero the disc is empty and a soft chime plays (M turns it off).
Ideas for class
- Use it for students who find it hard to know how long a task will last: the coloured part is the time left.
- Show it during independent work so students can pace themselves without asking.
- Use it for transitions with children who need warning: set 5 minutes and let them watch it shrink.
- Time turn-taking at a centre: each child has the time it takes the disc to empty.
- Pair it with a visual schedule: one disc for each activity of the day.
- Let students choose the colour. A favourite colour can make a timer something to look forward to rather than a threat.

Questions
How is this different from the other timer styles?
It is the same countdown engine drawn as a disc. The disc starts full in the colour you pick and the coloured part gets smaller until it disappears. It does not change colour as time runs out, which some students find calmer than a red warning.
Is it a sixty minute dial?
No. The whole disc is the length you set, whether that is 2 minutes or 2 hours. Many visual timers are fixed dials that always show up to an hour; this one rescales, so a short time is a big, visible movement.
Can I use it for a student's support plan?
Visual timers are widely used to help students see time pass. This free page is a simple tool, not a clinical one. Follow your school's guidance and the child's own plan.
Does it work on a smart board?
Yes. The buttons are large, nothing needs a hover, and it works offline once loaded.
