Quick answer

WorksheetWorks is our number one: its FAQ says the sheets are free for educational use, it serves no ads, and the answer key comes inside the PDF, across math, English, geography and puzzles. Peabody's own math generator is second for K to 8 math: 42 skills, versions A, B and C with one key, no sign-in and no ads. Math-Aids follows for range. WorksheetWorks.com

  • Best for ad-free sheets in more than one subject
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

Generated worksheets in five sections: Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Puzzles and Miscellanea, including handwriting practice, Sudoku, Kakuro, word search, graph paper and graphic organizers. The FAQ says some sheets use random number generation to shuffle the inputs, and where a sheet needs answers the key is a page inside the PDF.

The free part: Making and downloading sheets with no account; premium members get some additional materials not available to anonymous users.

The FAQ says the sheets are free for educational purposes; a premium membership exists, but we did not see its price.

Watch for The site does not publish keys, and remaking a randomized sheet can change its answers, so the FAQ says to keep the original PDF. Some materials are premium only.

Also good

  • Math-Drills: Over 70,000 free math worksheets with answer keys, but they are ready-made sheets rather than a generator you set; its page source loads Google ad code.

How we chose

We weighed these, most important first. The order is our judgement against them, not a score or a vote, and a different teacher could reasonably order it differently. Our own tool sits where those criteria put it; we built it after studying the others, so read its entry with that in mind.

  1. Free sheets with an answer key. Can you make and print a sheet at no cost, does it come with a key, and where does a paid plan or a watermark start?
  2. No sign-in to make a sheet. Whether you can choose a skill or type your words and print at once, or must register first.
  3. Ads on the page. Whether the page says it shows ads or sells an ad-free upgrade. We also looked for ad-network code in each page's source on 30 Oct 2026.
  4. Range of skills. How many skills or sheet types it generates for K to 8, and whether it covers more than one subject.
  5. A new sheet every time. Whether it really generates fresh problems or puzzles from your settings, and whether it can print several versions of one quiz.

We took no money, free products or affiliate commissions for any place on this list, and no link here carries a tracking code. Every fact was read on the maker’s own page on October 30, 2026; prices carry that date because they change. See how we choose and the ad-free promise.

Questions

What is the difference between a worksheet generator and a worksheet website?
A worksheet website holds ready-made sheets you print as they are. A generator makes a new sheet from your settings or your words, so you can print a fresh set each week or several versions of one quiz. Most sites here do both; our separate list of free worksheet websites covers the libraries.
Which free worksheet generators include an answer key?
WorksheetWorks puts the key inside the PDF, Math-Aids says its PDFs include the keys, Common Core Sheets gives each PDF an answer key, Effortless Math prints a key on a separate page, and Peabody's math generator keys versions A, B and C together. Edu-Games.org says most of its generators add a solution page.
Can I make different versions of the same quiz so students cannot copy?
Yes. Peabody's generator prints versions A, B and C of the same skill with different numbers, Common Core Sheets offers ten numbered versions of each sheet, and Kuta Software prints multiple versions in its paid software. On the other generators, press the button again and save each PDF, because a remade sheet has new answers.
Do worksheet generators show ads?
Many do. On 30 Oct 2026 we found ad-network code in the page source of Common Core Sheets, Edu-Games.org, Handwriting Worksheets, Tools for Educators, Puzzlemaker and Education.com, and Math-Aids says ads pay for its free site. WorksheetWorks says it serves no ads, SmartOnlineGames says no ads, and Peabody has none.
