One entry, Peabody Teach sign-in sheet, is our own free tool. It is marked Ours and ranked against the same criteria as the others.

Quick answer

MyKidReports' free sign-in sheet maker is our number one: daily or weekly, the columns you choose, children's names filled in, and a PDF with no account. Peabody Teach's own sign-in sheet is second for a printed sheet with your roster that never leaves your browser. Apps follow, from free tiers to quote-only. Your state's licensing rules decide what the record must hold.

How we chose

We weighed these, most important first. The order is our judgement against them, not a score or a vote, and a different teacher could reasonably order it differently. Our own tool sits where those criteria put it; we built it after studying the others, so read its entry with that in mind.

  1. Free without an email. Whether a printable sheet downloads without an account, an email or a sales form.
  2. The fields. Name, time in and out, and a signature each way: whether the sheet or app has them, and what it adds.
  3. Paper or app. Whether you need a device and an app at the door, and what the app does beyond a sheet.
  4. Published price. For apps, whether the vendor's own pricing page shows a price, or only asks you to request one.

We took no money, free products or affiliate commissions for any place on this list, and no link here carries a tracking code. Every fact was read on the maker’s own page on October 30, 2026; prices carry that date because they change. See how we choose and the ad-free promise.

Questions

What has to be on a daycare sign-in sheet?
Your state's child care licensing rules decide that, and how long you keep the sheets. Most sheets have the child's name, time in, a signature, time out and a signature. Childcare.gov's state resources page links each state.
Is a paper sign-in sheet still allowed?
Many programs use paper. Whether paper meets your state's rules is a question for your licensing agency, not for a template site.
Which is cheapest for a home daycare?
A printed sheet costs nothing. Among the apps here, MyKidReports' free plan covers up to five children; DailyConnect publishes a monthly price.
