All About Me theme for toddlers: a week of activities

A all about me theme lesson plan for toddlers: what a day looks like, then the week's circle time (two or three minutes, on laps), books, craft, song, snack, letter and outside time, each with what changes at this age.

A day of the all about me theme with toddlers

  1. Arrival and free play on the floor.
  2. Sing “This Little Piggy” with actions; repeat it while you change and feed.
  3. Hold and pass something real for the week (me), and say its name.
  4. Snack: a toddler-safe version of banana sushi (check the recipe's lines for under-4s).
  5. Outside: a short walk looking for name.
  6. Read Can Ted Hop? on laps, pointing and naming.
  7. Nap, then the song once more at pick-up.

All About Me circle time

  1. Hello song: sing hello to each child by name.
  2. Look out of the window together: sun, rain or clouds?
  3. Show the theme: hold up something real and name it.
  4. Sing: This Little Piggy.
  5. Read: Can Ted Hop? (level 1).

Infants and toddlers: two or three minutes, on laps.

  • Can Ted Hop? (level 1, free on peabody.kids): What can Ted do? A can-do book to talk about what I can do.
  • Get Up, Gus! (level 1, free on peabody.kids): A morning routine, like the start of our day.
  • Did It (level 0, free on peabody.kids): I did it! For the first weeks of trying new things.
  • My Teeth (read aloud, level 5): A read-aloud: true facts about teeth and growing.

Infants and toddlers: one book, read every day; point and name.

All About Me craft: Me puppet

You need (4): paper lunch bag, crayons, yarn for hair, glue stick.

  1. Draw your face on the bottom of the bag.
  2. Glue on yarn hair.
  3. Use the puppet to say your name at circle time.

With a grown-up. No heat, nothing hot.

Infants and toddlers: let them touch and hold the materials while you make it; nothing small enough to swallow.

Infants and toddlers: skip the trace page; show the picture page and say the word.

Outside activity: Can you do this?

Take turns showing a move (hop, spin, touch your toes) and everyone copies.
