Days until summer break

A big summer break countdown for the projector. Type the first day off once and it counts the days for you; Share copies a link that opens the same countdown.

Pick a date below and the days to go appear here.

The link in your address bar carries this date, so Share opens the same countdown. School breaks differ by district, so type your own dates; the holiday buttons are worked out from their rules for the current year.

How to use it

  1. Choose the date of summer break in the Date box. The big number is the days from today to that date.
  2. Type a name such as "Summer break" if you want it to show on the screen.
  3. Press F to fill the screen. Press Share to copy a link that opens this same countdown on any computer; your browser also remembers it.

Ideas for class

  • Type the last day of school and show the countdown on the board from May.
  • Use the weekday count to plan the final weeks and compare with your calendar of testing and events.
  • Ask students to guess how many Mondays are left and check on a calendar.
  • Use the number for a daily subtraction story: with 12 days left, how many after the weekend?
  • Plan a goodbye project that ends the day before the break and count to that date as well.
  • Share the link with students so they can see it at home.

Questions

When does summer break start?

Every school and district sets its own date, so type it from your calendar. This page does not guess a date.

Is this the same as the last day of school?

The last day of school is the date you choose. If your countdown should end on the last day, type that date. If it should end when break begins, type the first day off.

Will families see the same number?

If you share the link, yes. The link carries the date and name after the # sign in the address bar, which is never sent to a server.
