Can I sub in more than one district?
Usually yes. A state sub credential, like Colorado's substitute authorization or Missouri's substitute certificate, is issued by the state, not one district. But each district hires on its own, so you apply and onboard with each. Oakland Unified in California notes that subs can link Frontline accounts to see jobs from several districts together.

Expect separate paperwork for each district. Missouri's education department requires a background check for any new hire at a school district, so a second district may mean new prints. Each district also sets its own pay, orientation and rules.
California's 30-day emergency permit covers any classroom, but each hiring district must keep its own statement of need on file. Other states have their own versions of this, so a credential that travels does not always mean the hiring does.
Ask each district's sub office whether it has a minimum number of days you must work, how it handles a job you accept and later drop, and whether it shares a job system with nearby districts. Keep a log so your days, pay and schools stay straight.
