What the Kitchen pages show
Every recipe on the Peabody Kitchen has picture steps read aloud, a strip that names the allergens it contains, a swap for an ingredient where there is one (sun butter for peanut butter, for example), and a line for brothers and sisters under four, such as cutting round foods into quarters.
Many of the snacks need no heat at all: the no-bake shelf has fruit cups, roll-ups and frozen yogurt bark.
Check before you cook
- Your room's allergy list, every time, even for a snack you've made before.
- Your program's own rules about food made in the room.
- Whether a grown-up needs to do a step (cutting, the oven, anything hot).
We don't give food or allergy advice beyond what each recipe page says. Your program's rules and each family's instructions come first.
Jobs children can do
- Wash hands and fruit.
- Pour from a small jug.
- Stir, spread with a butter knife, and arrange on a plate.
- Count the pieces before they eat them.
