Name tag maker
Paste your class list and print name tags or folded desk plates, 6 to 10 to a page, with cut lines. Free, no watermark, and the names never leave your computer.
To save a PDF, choose Print, then “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheets print.
No names yet, so the tags are blank: 1 sheet, 8 to a sheet.
How to use it
- Paste your class list into the box, one name a line. A column from a spreadsheet works. If your list reads “Last, First”, tick the box and the names flip.
- Pick a size: name tags 8 or 10 to a page, bigger tags for lanyards or cubby hooks, or a desk plate that folds into a tent.
- Choose a style and a color, and add a line under each name such as your room number. Add a few extra blank tags for students who join later.
- Press Print. The preview is the page you will get. Choose “Save as PDF” in the print window to keep a copy.
Ideas for class
- First week of school: desk plates for every seat so you can learn names quickly, and so a substitute can too.
- Print blank tags for open house and write each name by hand.
- Use the “Hello, my name is” style for the first day, then switch to a plain border for cubby tags.
- Add the room number or your name under each tag for field trips and assemblies.
- Print a second set on a different color for a reading group or a project team.

Questions
Are the names kept anywhere?
Only in your browser on this computer, so the list is still there next time you come back. They are never sent to us and never put in a share link. Clear your browser’s site data to remove them.
Will it fit my sticker or badge paper?
The tags are laid out as a plain grid centered on the page, with the size shown in the menu. Check the measurements against your sheets before you print a full set, and print one page on plain paper first. Some adhesive sheets have their own spacing that a plain grid will not match.
How does the desk plate work?
Each plate prints the name twice, once upside down above a dashed fold line. Fold the paper on the line and stand it up like a tent, and the name reads from both sides.
What about long names?
Names shrink to fit their tag, down to a small size. A very long name may be easier to read on the larger tags or the desk plate.
What paper size does it use?
US Letter or A4. Choose the paper below the controls. The grid is centered on the page.
