Ideas for class
- Put your whole school year on the wall in August: print all eleven months and pin up the current one.
- Add testing windows, picture day, field trips and conferences so families can see the month at a glance.
- Give each family the month ahead in your newsletter: print one page and send it home.
- Use the one-month view for a reading challenge or a class countdown, with your own events on the days.
- Print next month’s page on the last Friday of the month and hang it where you can see it from your desk.

Questions
How are the holidays worked out?
By the rules that define them, not from a list of dates: Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the third Monday in January, Presidents’ Day the third Monday in February, Memorial Day the last Monday in May, Labor Day the first Monday in September, the second Monday in October is Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November. New Year’s Day, Juneteenth (from 2021), Independence Day, Veterans Day and Christmas have fixed dates. A holiday on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before and one on a Sunday on the Monday after, and the calendar shows both days.
Are my school’s days off included?
No. Your district’s calendar decides which days are days off, and it changes from district to district, so type those dates in yourself. Federal holidays are shown because they are the same for everyone, but many schools do not close on all of them.
What is the second Monday in October called?
The federal holiday’s legal name is Columbus Day. Some states and school districts call it Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead, so you can choose either name, or both.
Why are there no religious holidays?
Their dates depend on calendars that differ by tradition and change each year, and we would rather leave them out than get one wrong. Add the ones your school observes with the events box.
Are my events saved on your side?
No. They stay in your browser on this computer so they are still there next time. They are never sent to us and never put in a share link.
Nothing you do here is sent to us. Names, lists and settings stay in this browser. No sign-in, no ads.
