2 minute timer
A 2 minute countdown timer for the projector: big digits, a quiet chime, warning colours and full screen. Good for quick brain breaks and clean-up.
2:00
Keys: Space start or pause · R reset · ← → 30 seconds · 1–8 the presets · M sound · F full screen
How to use it
- The timer is already set to 2 minutes. Press Start, or tap the Space bar.
- Press F to fill the screen. The buttons fade away until you move the mouse; press Esc to come back.
- Add or take off 30 seconds with the arrow keys. If you need a different length, press a preset or choose Custom.
Ideas for class
- Set it for pack-up at the end of the day and see whether the class can beat yesterday's finish.
- Run a two-minute clean-up race where everyone resets the room before the chime.
- Give a two-minute partner share: one minute each.
- Use it for a quick vocabulary round: write as many words as you can about the topic.
- Time a short mindful pause with the Quiet style on the board.
- Use it to give students two minutes to find and fix one mistake in a short passage.
- The halfway mark is 1 minute: when the digits reach it, ask students to hold up fingers for how far through the task they are.

Questions
Can a 2 minute timer be used for tooth-brushing or hand-washing at home?
Yes. Dentists often suggest brushing for two minutes, so parents and teachers of young children use a two minute timer with the Sand or Race style so children can watch it. Check your own dentist's advice for your child.
What do teachers use a 2 minute timer for?
A 2 minute timer fits the small gaps in a lesson: a transition, a stretch, a clean-up, or a short think before sharing. Because it is short, the digits are the main thing on screen, and the warning colours change quickly near the end so students can see the time running out.
How do I change the 2 minute timer?
Press a preset button or choose Custom and type a length such as 7:30 or 90s. The page address updates to carry the new length, so you can bookmark it or share it. This page always opens at 2 minutes.
Will the 2 minute timer keep the right time if the tab is in the background?
Yes. The countdown compares the clock when you pressed Start with the clock now, so it stays right when a tab sleeps. When it reaches zero it plays a short, soft chime (press M to turn the sound off) and the page title in the tab says the time is up.
