Fruit wheel: spin for a fruit
Twenty fruits from apples to papayas, for snack choices, healthy-eating units, drawing, sorting and counting games.
20 entries
Hide a note behind a slice with a bar: cat | a small furry pet. It shows after the spin. Start a line with an emoji to draw it big. Two columns pasted from a spreadsheet work too.
Who's away today?
Tap anyone who is away. Their slice is hatched and skipped today only; at midnight they are back. Nobody is deleted.
Drag the wheel round and let go to flick it. Your flick sets the show. The draw is already fair: your browser's secure random generator picks the winner before the wheel moves.
Space spin, or stop sooner · R new round · M sound on or off · F full screen · Esc leave it

How to use it
- The wheel already holds 20 entries for “Fruit wheel”. Edit, add or delete lines in the box and it redraws; your changes stay in this browser.
- Tap the wheel, press Space, or drag it and let go to flick it. The winner is drawn first with your browser's secure random generator; the pegs, the clicks and the big reveal only show it.
- Choose Fade the winner or Remove the winner to use every entry once, or Keep everyone in for repeats. “Original list” brings back the starting entries, and Print makes a paper spinner of the list.
Ideas for class
- Fruit tasting day: spin for the fruit of the week, and let students describe the color, smell and texture before and after tasting.
- Draw it: students draw the fruit from memory, then look at a real one and add what they missed.
- Sort and graph: ask students to say which fruits grow on trees, vines, bushes or the ground, then count each group.
- Beginning sounds: spin and ask the class for another word that starts with the same sound, like banana and ball.
- Check allergies and school food rules before any tasting, and offer a choice for students who cannot eat the fruit.

Questions
Can I use it to choose a snack?
Yes, if you have checked allergies and school food rules first. The wheel is better for fun and learning than for deciding what a child must eat.
Is coconut a fruit?
Yes, botanically it is a fruit, specifically a drupe. Many children think of it as a nut. That is a good thing to ask the class about.
Can I add vegetables?
Yes. Add lines like Carrot, Broccoli or Corn, or make a separate wheel for them. Your list is saved in this browser so you can come back to it.
