24 minute timer
A 24 minute countdown timer for the projector: big digits, a quiet chime, warning colours and full screen. Good for station rotations, longer writing and focus blocks.
24:00
Keys: Space start or pause · R reset · ← → 30 seconds · 1–8 the presets · M sound · F full screen
How to use it
- The timer is already set to 24 minutes. Press Start, or tap the Space bar.
- Press F to fill the screen. The buttons fade away until you move the mouse; press Esc to come back.
- Add or take off 30 seconds with the arrow keys. If you need a different length, press a preset or choose Custom.
Ideas for class
- Set a full station rotation, with the chime as the signal to move to the next table.
- Use it for a work period with a mid-way check: pause at the half to ask what is working.
- Use it for an assessment window, with the remaining time visible to everyone.
- Use a focus block: work with no interruptions until the timer ends, then take a short break (the 25 minute version is the classic Pomodoro rhythm).
- Split 24 minutes into 17 to work and 7 to share: press Start, and pause at 17:00 elapsed to switch.
- The halfway mark is 12 minutes: when the digits reach it, ask students to hold up fingers for how far through the task they are.
- Divide it into 6 rotations of 4 minutes: call "switch" each time the digits show a multiple of 4.

Questions
How do I keep a 24 minute timer on the screen for a whole block?
Press F to fill the screen and the controls fade away until you move the mouse. The timer keeps time by the clock, so it stays correct even if the screen dims or the tab is in the background. For a 24 minute block with stations, set it once and press R to start the next rotation from the top.
How do I change the 24 minute timer?
Press a preset button or choose Custom and type a length such as 7:30 or 90s. The page address updates to carry the new length, so you can bookmark it or share it. This page always opens at 24 minutes.
Will the 24 minute timer keep the right time if the tab is in the background?
Yes. The countdown compares the clock when you pressed Start with the clock now, so it stays right when a tab sleeps. When it reaches zero it plays a short, soft chime (press M to turn the sound off) and the page title in the tab says the time is up.
