Class race timer
A stopwatch for every team, from 2 to 8 lanes, all started together. Press each lane's number as it finishes, and a podium rises in the real finishing order.
How to use it
- Choose how many lanes (2 to 8) and type a name for each, or leave them as Lane 1, Lane 2. Leave the 3, 2, 1 count-in on for a fair start.
- Press Start all (or Space). As each team finishes, press its number on the keyboard (1 to 8) or tap its Finish button. The lane freezes with its place and how far behind the winner it was.
- When the last lane is in, the podium rises with a fanfare. Press U to undo a mis-tap, Enter to call the race early, and Race again for the next round. Copy, download or print the results.
Ideas for class
- Run a relay: one lane per team, and press the team's number as the last runner crosses the line.
- Race tables to tidy up, with the table numbers as lane names.
- Hold a math-facts race: each team finishes when its sheet is done and checked.
- Time a science challenge, such as whose paper boat sinks last or whose ice cube melts first.
- Time station work, and print the results with a title like Stations, Room 12, Tuesday.
- Use it in PE for sprints and shuttle runs: the count-in gives everyone the same start.

Questions
How many teams can race?
From 2 to 8 lanes. Name each lane before the start (a team, a table, a first name or initials) or leave it as Lane 1, Lane 2 and so on. The names stay in this browser.
What counts as a tie?
Two finishes within 0.15 seconds of each other share a place and are marked tie. A person pressing a button cannot honestly separate them, so the race does not pretend to.
What if I tap the wrong lane?
Press U (or Undo) and the last lane to finish starts running again on the same clock, as if the tap never happened. Undo works after the podium too.
Can I stop before every lane finishes?
Yes. Press Enter (or Call it) and the podium rises for the lanes that finished; the others are listed as did not finish.
Can I keep the results?
The race stays in this browser through a reload. Copy results puts a plain list on the clipboard, Download CSV saves a spreadsheet file, and Print prints the table under the title you type. Nothing is sent to a server.
Is the runner on each lane showing speed?
No. Every runner creeps along together while its lane is still going, and dashes to the line when that lane finishes. The order on the podium is the real order of the finishes.
