About this sheet

Kindness is a habit, and a calendar makes it a habit with a daily size. Each day on this page carries one small act, short enough to fit in the box: hold a door, say thank you to a helper, include someone at recess. The acts are specific and cost nothing, and none requires a purchase or a gift. They are in a box you can edit, so you can swap in your own, and the calendar lines up correctly for any month and year. Post it in the room, send it home or use it for a month-long class goal. A February kindness month is common, but the page works in any month, and is neutral on holidays.

Grades: Pre-K to 6. Best in: August, September, February.

How to use it

  1. Choose the month and year. Edit the acts in the box, one for each day in order, or keep the ones that are there.
  2. Print on landscape paper and post it in the room. Send a copy home with a note about the month's goal.
  3. Each day, read the day's act at morning meeting, and ask at the end of the day who saw or did one.

Five ideas for class

  1. Let the class vote for their favorite ten acts and rewrite the calendar around them, so the acts are the class's own.
  2. Notice acts of kindness out loud when you see them, naming the specific thing. A noticed act is repeated.
  3. Send the calendar home and ask families to add a kind act of their own, and bring back a note about one.
  4. Pair the calendar with the kindness poster, and use a line from the poster as the theme of each week.
  5. Keep a class tally on the board of kind acts seen, not as a competition but as a picture of the month.

Questions

Does it need to be February?

No. Choose any month and year in the boxes. The dates redraw, and the acts run along the days in order.

What if a month has more days than acts?

The last days stay blank, and you can write your own in. Type more acts into the box for longer months.

Is it tied to a particular holiday?

No. The acts are neutral and suit any classroom, whatever it celebrates.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

Your edits are kept in this browser so they are there next time, and are never sent to us. No sign-in, no ads.
