About this sheet

A daily agenda is the list students read when they walk in and the list a visitor reads to understand the room. Posting the same page in the same place each day builds the habit of looking, and a checklist lets the class tick things off as they happen. This one has four parts: the date, the checklist, the homework and the reminders. Type the checklist on screen and the boxes draw themselves, or print the sheet blank and write it by hand in the morning. It is the printable cousin of the morning board on this site, for rooms where the projector is busy or switched off.

Grades: K to 6. Best in: August, September.

How to use it

  1. Type today's items in the box, one per line, in the order they will happen. Leave it empty for blank boxes to write in.
  2. Print the sheet, write the date and the homework by hand, and post it on the door or the board before students arrive.
  3. Tick the boxes as the day goes on, so the class sees progress, and add reminders in the last box as they come up.

Five ideas for class

  1. Print a stack of the same sheet on Friday with the next week's items typed in, and write the dates by hand each morning.
  2. Ask a student to read the agenda aloud at morning meeting. The routine builds reading fluency and gives the child a job.
  3. Use the reminders box for the one thing you do not want forgotten, such as forms due or a library day, and keep it to a single line.
  4. Post the sheet on the outside of the door for visitors and administrators, so they see what the class is doing without asking.
  5. On the day of a substitute, type a short agenda and add the substitute's name in the heading, to welcome them as part of the class.

Questions

Is this the same as the daily schedule cards?

No. The cards show the times, one per card, and move around the board. The agenda is a single page of what the class will do, with the homework and reminders.

Can I print the sheet without any items?

Yes. Clear the box and the checklist prints as blank lines with boxes, ready to write on by hand.

Can it go on a projector?

For a projected daily board with a timer, use the morning board on this site. This printable is for paper.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.
