About this sheet

Where a daily schedule shows today, a weekly schedule shows the shape of the whole week, and that is what a family, a specialist teacher or an aide needs. Time blocks go down the left and you can edit them to match your bells. The day columns are editable too, so a four-day week or a Day A and Day B rotation works as well as Monday to Friday. Each box has two writing lines, enough for a subject and a room or a special. Write it in pencil, because the week you plan in August is rarely the week you teach in November.

Grades: K to 8. Best in: August, September, January.

How to use it

  1. Type your time blocks in the first box, one per line, for example 8:30 to 9:15. Set the number of rows to match.
  2. Edit the day columns if your week is not Monday to Friday, then print on landscape letter or A4.
  3. Fill in the boxes by hand, copy the sheet for your aide and the office, and keep the original in your planner.

Five ideas for class

  1. Fill in the fixed blocks first (lunch, recess, specials, library) in pen, then pencil in the flexible ones around them.
  2. Give a copy to every adult who works in the room so a visitor or a substitute can see where the class should be at any minute.
  3. Color the specials boxes with a highlighter and send a copy home so families know which days need sneakers or a library book.
  4. Hang a copy by the door at the height of the students and teach them to find the next block, which builds independence in the first weeks.
  5. Print two weeks side by side when you have an A and B rotation, using the day columns to label them Day A to Day E and so on.

Questions

Can I use it for a rotating schedule?

Yes. Edit the day columns to say Day A, Day B and so on, and add as many as you need up to twelve. The columns resize to fit the page.

How many time blocks fit?

Up to twenty rows. Eight to ten rows leaves comfortable writing room in each box on letter paper.

Is there a version for students to carry?

The class period schedule is a portrait sheet with a space for the class, teacher and room in each period, made for a student to tape in a binder.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.
