Table tents: big folded table signs (free printable)
One big folded sign to a page, the text on both halves so it reads from either side of a table. Type a name or number for each table and print one page for each.
To save a PDF, choose Print, then “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints.
About this sheet
Groups work better when they have a name, and a sign in the middle of the table gives them one. A table tent is a page folded in half and stood up, with the words large enough to read across a room. Each page has the text twice, once upside down, so that when it is folded it reads from both sides. Type the names or numbers, one per line, and the sheet draws one page for each: Table 1, Table 2, or a color, a planet, a river. The same format works for a center rotation, for stations in a science lab, for a parent evening and for a lunch table. Print on card stock for a sign that stands up on its own.
Grades: K to 8. Best in: August, September.
How to use it
- Type the label for each tent, one per line: Table 1, Table 2, or the names you give your groups. Leave it empty for a blank tent.
- Print on card stock, one page for each tent, and fold along the dashed line so the text faces out on both sides.
- Stand the tent in the middle of the table. Use the same tents for stations, workshops or a family night.
Five ideas for class
- Name the tables for something the class is studying, such as planets or rivers, and change the names with each unit.
- Use the tents to mark centers in a rotation, with the activity name on each, so children can find where to go at a glance.
- Print blank tents and let each group decide and decorate their own name, which gives them a stake in the group.
- Use a different color of card stock for each table so the signs can be seen from the other side of the room.
- Use them at an open house or a family evening to mark where each activity is held.

Questions
How big is the text?
As big as the page allows: it is sized to fill the width of each half, so a short label such as Table 3 appears very large.
Can I put a name for each child's group?
Yes. Type any text you like. Group names are not student data, but avoid typing individual children's names on a public sign if your school asks you to.
Does it stand up?
On card stock, yes. On plain paper, tape the open sides together to make a triangle, or use a small piece of tape under each edge.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.
Can I print it in black and white?
Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.
