About this sheet
A certificate is a small paper that a child may keep for years, and the thing that makes it worth keeping is a specific reason. This one has a double border, a star, and the heading you choose: Reading Award, Book Club Champion, 20 Books Read. Type the child's name and a sentence for the reason, such as for reading every night this month, or leave them blank to write by hand after printing. There are lines for the date and your signature at the foot. For a full certificate maker with thirty award wordings and a batch from a name list, see the certificate maker on this site. This page is the quick version for when you need one sheet.
Grades: Pre-K to 8. Best in: May, June, December.
How to use it
- Edit the heading to the award, and type the name and a reason, or leave them blank to write by hand.
- Print on landscape letter or A4 card stock, and sign and date it with a pen.
- Present it in front of the class and read the reason aloud, and send a photocopy home in a folder.
Five ideas for class
- Give the certificate for a specific action, such as finishing a series or trying a new genre, and not only for the total number of books.
- Ask the class to sign the back of the certificate before the presentation, so the award carries a message from friends.
- Make a set of awards for the end of the reading challenge, each with its own heading, so more children are recognized for different things.
- Send the award home with a note to the family about what the child did, so the pride is shared.
- Use a black and white copy and let the child color the border themselves, as part of the celebration.

Questions
Is there a certificate maker with more options?
Yes. The certificate maker on this site has thirty award wordings, borders and a batch mode for a list of names. This page is a single quick sheet.
Is the name stored?
A name you type is kept in this browser and never sent to us. Use Start over to clear it.
What paper should I use?
Card stock in a pale color gives the best result. The certificate prints in landscape on letter or A4.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.
Can I print it in black and white?
Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.
Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?
Your edits are kept in this browser so they are there next time, and are never sent to us. No sign-in, no ads.
