Top 20 free classroom screen and projector dashboard tools (2026)

Checked October 2026For Teachers, Homeschool and parentsKind Free websitesNo affiliate links, no paid placement. How we chose

One entry, Peabody Board, is our own free tool. It is marked Ours and ranked against the same criteria as the others.

Quick answer

Classroomscreen is our number one: its free Basic plan includes all 26 widgets and a template library, though its pricing page puts saving and sharing screens in the paid Pro plan. MyClassScreen says every widget and saved board is free with no account. Peabody's own Board is third on the same criteria: twelve boards saved free in your browser, a noise meter that grows a garden instead of scolding, and clap-back attention signals, with fewer widgets than the top two. Lans Cloud is the smallest and most private of the rest.

1. Classroomscreen

Classroomscreen

  • Best for a polished screen with templates and backgrounds
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

A one-screen teaching display for the projector. The pricing page says the free Basic plan has no time limit and includes all 26 widgets, an annotation bar, remote poll voting, three saved name lists and a template library. The widgets include a timer, sound level, traffic light, work symbols, group maker, randomizer, poll, draw, QR code and dice, with a background picker. Pro adds saving and sharing screens, custom backgrounds and unlimited name lists.

The free part: Basic is free with no time limit: all 26 widgets, the annotation bar, remote poll voting, three saved name lists, your own widget bar layout and the template library.

Pro is $3 a month, or $36 a year billed annually; Organization is $525 a year for 25 licenses (as of 2026-10-29).

Watch for The pricing page lists saving and sharing screens, custom backgrounds and unlimited name lists under Pro, not Basic, so a free account rebuilds its screen more often.

Visit Classroomscreen ↗  Facts read on the maker’s page.

2. MyClassScreen

MyClassScreen

  • Best for a free Classroomscreen-style board that saves with no account
  • Free

A browser display for a projector or panel with a widget bar the page says holds 43 widgets, including a timer, noise meter, random name picker, group maker, traffic light, live poll, exit ticket and text. The page says every widget, template and saved board is free, with no account for teachers or students. Boards save in your browser and move to another device by copying the layout link.

The page says free, with no premium tier and no trial.

Watch for The page does not name a maker. Ads appear on its articles and guides though not on the board, and the QR widget sends its text to an outside QR image service.

3. Peabody Board

Peabody Teach

  • Ours
  • Best for a free board with a noise meter that never punishes
  • Free

A projector board of fourteen widgets you drag and resize on a 16 by 9 grid. The Quiet Garden noise meter grows a plant while the room is calm and never takes anything away (or shows a light or a bar). Attention signals play a chime, a rain stick, a 5-4-3-2-1 count and Clap back, a rhythm the class claps back. There are work symbols, groups from your class list, a scoreboard, timers, a stopwatch, a checklist, notes, a picker and a clock, over backdrops drawn in code that follow the season, with six ready-made layouts. Up to twelve named boards save free in your browser, flip like a deck and move between computers as a file; names stay out of links.

Free, no sign-in and no ads; Peabody is free through the end of 2026 (as of 2026-10-29).

Watch for No drawing, poll, QR, dice, webcam or uploaded pictures on the board yet, so it has about half of Classroomscreen's 26 widgets; boards live in one browser, so moving one takes a file or a link, and reopening a closed tab needs the internet.

4. Lans Cloud Classroom Screen

Lans Cloud

  • Best for a private board with no account at all
  • Free

A full-screen board that holds up to 12 widgets: clock, timer with a chime, a no-repeat name picker, note, sketch pad, traffic light, work symbols, noise meter, scoreboard, class jobs, word list and birthdays. The page says no account is needed, class lists and layouts stay in the browser, and the noise meter turns room sound into a number and discards the audio.

The page says there is no Pro tier and no locked features.

Watch for The widget list has no group maker, poll, QR code or dice, and the page says a different device starts fresh because everything is stored in the browser.

Every app is unlocked on the free plan, which saves one screen, one class list and one timetable.

The free part: Every app is unlocked, with 20 AI tokens, one class list, one timetable and one saved whiteboard screen.

Pro is £8 a month or £60 a year (as of 2026-10-29).

Watch for You sign in with Google or email to save classes and settings, and the free plan keeps just one saved screen.

Visit Sage Teachers ↗

6. Sabura

Sabura

  • Best for trying the widest set of free tools in one session
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

A teacher dashboard with a visual timetable, name picker, attendance, a seating grid, group splitter, scoreboard, timer and stopwatch, traffic light, work symbols, notes, a whiteboard, noise monitor, webcam, PDF and photo displays, QR code, dice, weather and an AI teaching assistant. Pro comes with a 7-day trial that needs no credit card; we did not see a Pro price (as of 2026-10-29).

Watch for Without Pro, layouts, notes and drawings do not save, and cloud sync and a view-only student link need Pro or the trial.

7. Class Cortex

Class Cortex

  • Best for a gamified class with squads, XP and boss battles
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

One browser tab with a timer, student picker, noise monitor, dice roller, two-team scoreboard, drag-and-drop seating map, a whiteboard and a Command Deck for XP, HP and squads, plus eight training games and Boss Battles that students join by QR code or room code. The page says rosters, scores and seating stay in the browser's local storage, and the cookie notice says analytics cookies and no advertising.

The free part: One class of up to 30 students, four of the eight training games, basic whiteboard and a manual noise alarm.

Pro is AUD $49 a year and the Department plan AUD $299 a year; a 14-day Pro trial needs no credit card (as of 2026-10-29).

  • Free

A free toolkit of five tools: a noise meter that shows live volume in decibels with a threshold alert, a countdown timer with presets and an end chime, a group maker that can save class lists, a random name picker with a no-repeat mode, and a scoreboard for team points. The page says all five work offline once loaded, and that class lists, scores and settings stay in the browser.

Widgets can be dragged, resized and slid into hidden tabs, and the maker says layouts save to the cloud and there are no ads.

The free part: The maker describes it as completely free to use; a PRO tier also exists and the listing does not say what it adds.

The listing calls it free and mentions a PRO tier; we did not see a price (as of 2026-10-29).

Watch for We could not read the maker's own site, so these details come from its Product Hunt listing, which does not say whether an account is needed to save a layout.

Visit PurpleBoard ↗  Facts read on the maker’s page.

MinuteBell

  • Best for a big toolbox of single-purpose pages
  • Free

More than 40 free tools on separate pages: many timers (countdown, loop, visual, a sequence timer for stations, breathing), classroom tools such as a noise meter, traffic light, scoreboard, tally counter, group maker, seating chart and big clock, name-picker wheels, dice, and bingo. The page says nothing you type is uploaded, name lists stay in your browser, and timers and wheels can be shared by link.

Watch for The page says it shows light ads in reserved spaces, and it describes separate tools rather than one arranged board.

11. GoTimer Classroom Tools

GoTimer

  • Best for Chromebook classrooms that want no ads and no sign-in
  • Free

18. Toy Theater Classroom Timer

Toy Theater

  • Best for a simple shaped timer for younger classes

The page describes the timer as free.

Watch for The page is labeled Advertisement in two places and shows a cookie notice, so ads can appear around the timer on the projector.

Bouncy Balls

  • Best for a fun noise display that children watch
  • Free

Also good

  • FixAndTest Classroom Noise Meter: Shows noise as a sleeping monster, face, bubbles or bar, with a quiet-time-earned counter; the page says nothing is recorded or sent.
  • Flippity Random Name Picker: A spinner, single-name and lineup picker; the Google Sheets version asks you to sign in with Google.
  • Whiteboard.fi: A free online whiteboard run by a Kahoot! company; the page shows sign-in and register links. It is a whiteboard, not a widget screen.
  • TeacherScreen: A builder for interactive lessons that also links a classroom timer, name picker and dice roller; the page says a free Standard plan follows sign-up.
  • Padlet: Boards and sandboxes for sharing ideas; the page says making one is free after signing up, and it does not describe a projector mode.

How we chose

We weighed these, most important first. The order is our judgement against them, not a score or a vote, and a different teacher could reasonably order it differently. Our own tool sits where those criteria put it; we built it after studying the others, so read its entry with that in mind.

  1. Widgets teachers use every day. A timer, name picker, group maker, noise meter, traffic light or work symbols, and a place for instructions, on one screen.
  2. Free, including saving. Whether you can build a screen and keep it for tomorrow without paying, and what the free plan leaves out.
  3. No sign-in to start. Whether a teacher can open it and use it at once, or must make an account first.
  4. Ads on the projector. Whether the maker's page mentions ads, sells an ad-free upgrade, or shows an advertisement label, since an ad on a big screen is seen by every child.
  5. Where names and sound stay. Whether the maker's page says class lists stay in the browser and the microphone is never recorded. If a page is silent we say so.
  6. Ready-made screens. Templates or starter layouts that save a teacher from building a screen from nothing.

We took no money, free products or affiliate commissions for any place on this list, and no link here carries a tracking code. Every fact was read on the maker’s own page on October 29, 2026; prices carry that date because they change. See how we choose and the ad-free promise.

Questions

What is the best free alternative to Classroomscreen?
MyClassScreen is the closest free copy: it says every widget, template and saved board is free with no account. Lans Cloud has fewer widgets but says nothing leaves your browser. Classroomscreen's own Basic plan is also free, but saving screens is listed under Pro.
Do I need an account to use a classroom screen?
Not for several of these. MyClassScreen, Lans Cloud, ClassroomTools, GoTimer and Peabody's Board say no account is needed. Sage Teachers asks you to sign in with Google or email to save, TeacherStack needs an account, and Sabura needs one to save a layout.
Which ones show ads on the projector?
ClassroomTools shows one ad below its tools, MinuteBell says it shows light ads, Online-Stopwatch, ClassTools and Toy Theater show ads on the free version, and MyClassScreen shows ads on its articles but not its board. Lans Cloud, GoTimer, Class Cortex and Peabody's Board say they have none, and Classroomscreen's timer page says that widget has none.
Is it safe to use a noise meter in front of children?
The meters here that explain themselves, such as Lans Cloud, ClassroomTools, GoTimer and MinuteBell, say the microphone is measured in the browser and not recorded or uploaded. Classroomscreen's sound level page says nothing about microphone privacy, and Bouncy Balls links a policy we did not read. Peabody's Quiet Garden also measures in the browser and keeps only the day's count of quiet minutes, and it never takes anything away when the room gets loud.
Where do my students' names go?
Lans Cloud, ClassroomTools, GoTimer, MinuteBell, Class Cortex and MyClassScreen's boards say lists and layouts stay in your browser. Classroomscreen and Sage Teachers save class lists to an account, and the pages we read do not say where those lists are kept, so use first names or initials if you are unsure. Peabody's Board keeps the class list, groups and team names in your browser and leaves them out of links and saved files unless you tick a box.
Can Peabody's Board replace Classroomscreen yet?
For the everyday core, yes: a timer, a picker, groups, a noise meter, work symbols, a scoreboard, signals, a checklist and notes, with twelve boards saved free in your browser and no ads. It does not have drawing, polls, QR codes, dice, a webcam or uploaded backgrounds, which Classroomscreen has, so a teacher who relies on those still needs it.
