About this sheet

At the start of the year and again in January, most teachers walk the room with a clipboard and count what is left. This page is that clipboard sheet. Each row has a supply, a box to tick if you have enough, a box to tick if you need more and a space for the amount. The default list is the usual run of pencils, glue sticks, markers, tissues and the rest, and you can edit any of it: add the specialist things your room needs, remove what you do not use. It is not a shopping list for a particular store and carries no prices, so it works for a classroom, a homeschool, a club or a school office alike.

How to use it

  1. Edit the list so it matches what your room uses, one supply to a line, up to thirty-two lines.
  2. Print the sheet and walk the room, ticking have or need for each, and writing the amount you need.
  3. Copy the need column to a note for families, your school's office or a parent group, and keep the sheet for the next count.

Five ideas for class

  1. Count twice a year, in August and in January, and compare the sheets. The difference shows what is used up fastest.
  2. Ask students to count one item each, as a math job, and write the number on a sticky note for you to enter.
  3. Divide the list into things a family can easily send and things the school provides, and send each to the right place.
  4. Send the need column home at the start of term with a polite note that donations are welcome and never required.
  5. Keep one sheet in your sub folder, so a substitute can tell if something has run out and tell you.

Questions

Does it include prices or links?

No. Prices and brands vary by place and change, and we do not link to stores. The sheet is a count and a need, nothing more.

Can I add more than twenty-four items?

Yes. Type more lines, up to thirty-two. The rows shrink to fit the page.

Is it for the whole school?

It suits a classroom, a department or an office. Edit the list to the supplies of your room, such as lab equipment or art materials.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Choose Print, then pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the sheet prints: the page around it is hidden. You can also save a sheet as a PNG image under the preview.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. Switch to Black and white beside the sheet: fills turn white and lines turn black, so it saves ink and photocopies cleanly.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

Your edits are kept in this browser so they are there next time, and are never sent to us. No sign-in, no ads.
