About this set
Thirteen food and nutrition words with a clue that tells something true about each: a red fruit with its seeds on the outside, a green vegetable that looks like a tiny tree, a warm breakfast made from oats, tiny nutrients that help your body grow. The list leans toward foods children know (apple, banana, grapes, carrot, milk, yogurt) so younger students succeed, and it ends with three words for a nutrition lesson (vitamins, protein, fiber). The clues describe, never judge: no food is called good or bad. Use the word bank for first and second grade, and turn it off for fifth.
Grades: 1st to 5th grade. Best in: March, September.

Questions
Are the facts in the clues accurate?
Yes. A strawberry carries its seeds on the outside, broccoli does look like a small tree, oatmeal is made from oats, and milk is in the dairy group. If you change a clue, check the fact first.
Can I use it with the bingo cards?
Yes. Play the bingo first so students hear the words, and use the crossword afterward to show they know what each one means.
Can I change the words and clues?
Yes. Each of the 13 lines is a word, a colon and its clue. Edit any of them, and the crossword is rebuilt with new numbers.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Press Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. The puzzle is page one and the answer key is page two.
How do I get a different layout?
Press “Make another”. The same words and clues are placed in a new arrangement, so each table can have its own puzzle.
