Thirty-six Earth Day words, from recycle, reduce and reuse to solar power, habitats and planting a tree, on unique printable cards for April 22.
36 items · a 5 × 5 card with a free space needs 24 or more. More items make the cards differ. For review bingo, type answer | clue (“56 | 7 × 8”): the card shows the answer, the caller reads the clue. About this set
Earth Day is April 22, and classes mark it with recycling lessons, clean-up walks and planting. This set puts the three Rs first (reduce, reuse, recycle), then the everyday actions children can do themselves (turn off the lights, save water, pick up trash, compost, plant a tree, use a reusable bag, walk or bike) and the bigger ideas behind them (energy, solar and wind power, pollution, habitat, wildlife, rainforest, ocean, climate, protect). Younger students can play with the simple words; older students can be asked to explain how each word connects to taking care of the planet.
Grades: Pre-K to 6th grade. Best in: April.

How to play, and five ideas
Action pledge: when an action word is called, each student shares one thing they will do this week.
Sort the trash: bring clean recyclables and have students decide which bin matches each called item.
School clean-up: end the game with the “pick up trash” square and take the class outside with gloves and bags.
Energy walk: when “energy” is called, walk the classroom and list everything that uses electricity.
Plant it: when “plant a tree” is called, plant seeds in cups and chart their growth over two weeks.
April 22 every year. The first Earth Day was in 1970, and it is now observed around the world.
Are the words too hard for young students?
Words like “climate” and “habitat” are for older students. For pre-K and kindergarten, make 3 × 3 cards from recycle, reuse, trees, water, earth, plants, litter, bike and green.
Can I change the words?
Yes. The 36 words are in the box above the cards. Delete, add or edit any line and the cards are rebuilt at once. Nothing is saved on our servers.
How do I call the game?
Press “Call the game”. Each press of the space bar tumbles the ball cage and pops out the next item in very large type, with the list of items already called beside it. Press C and type a card number to check a winner, P to change the win pattern, V to have each call read aloud, and F to fill the projector.
How do I save the cards as a PDF?
Press Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. Each page can also be saved as a PNG picture from under its preview.
