11. Mr Barton Maths number lines
Mr Barton Maths
Two number lines built for the board, one for adding and subtracting and one for multiplying. You type a sum such as 37 + 25 and it draws the jumps as one hop, by 1s, in tens then ones, or by bridging 10, with a Predict mode that hides the answer, a Compare mode for two lines, practice and missing-number questions, and 64 investigation questions with teacher notes. You can print the line, six blank lines, or six questions with an answer page. The page says nothing is sent anywhere or stored on the device.
The maker's tools page says these tools are free and need no login.
Watch for We saw only whole-number and tenths lines, not fraction lines, no pen or whole-class game, and the pages do not say whether ads appear.

22. Peabody Teach Number line
Peabody Teach
A number line for the whole class at the projector. Type a sum such as 37 + 25, 62 − 25, −4 − (−3) or 3/4 + 1/2 and a little hopper hops it in tens then ones, by bridging 10, by ones or in one jump, stopping at zero when it crosses it, while the equation builds word by word. With sound on, each landing plays a note: zero is home, negatives go minor. Where's the flag? is a team estimation game on a line with its numbers hidden, plus a Higher or lower mode. Draw with a pen, hide parts under cover cards, and print blank lines or three worksheets with answer pages. Whole numbers, negatives, fractions to twelfths and decimals.
Free, no sign-in and no ads; Peabody is free through the end of 2026 (as of 2026-10-29).
Watch for It has no investigation questions like Mr Barton's 64, no two-line compare or multiplication line, no open line with your own tick marks on screen, and a share link carries the line settings but not the hops or drawing. Peabody Teach is new, with none of the years of classroom use behind the older tools.

33. The Math Learning Center Number Line
The Math Learning Center
Choose lines labeled with whole numbers, fractions, decimals or negatives, or a custom line with or without tick marks and your own interval. Draw forward and backward jumps above and below the line, label them or leave them blank, add custom tick marks, and share the work as an image or an eight-character code and link. The app's info page adds drawing and annotation tools. It runs as a web app and an iPad app.
The Math Learning Center apps page calls its apps free.
Watch for We saw no way to print blank lines from it; sharing is by image, link or code, and the page does not say whether a student needs an account.

44. Polypad Number Line
Amplify
Polypad is a free math canvas. Under Numbers it has a Number Line tile with Start and Step boxes and a draggable pin, plus a separate set of jump arcs (one going back, one going forward, and a chain of three) that you drag on. Around the line you get a pen, text, zoom, undo and share links, and you can set fraction bars or other tiles beside it. Logging in is only needed to assign work to classes.
The Polypad home page says the tools are completely free to use and need no login or installation.
Watch for The number line itself is basic (a start, a step and a pin); we did not see fraction labels or printing on it, and assigning work to a class needs an account.
Visit Polypad Number Line ↗ Facts read on the maker’s page.
55. Mathsframe ITP Number Line
Mathsframe
A number line with two movable markers in numbered boxes that shows the sum and difference of the two numbers and the calculation they stand for. You can hide and reveal the numbers, which also hides them in the calculation, change the maximum and minimum, and hide the numbered intervals. It is built for whiteboards and for modelling addition and subtraction with positive and negative numbers.
The page says these interactive teaching programs stay freely available without a subscription.
Watch for It is one simple tool: we saw no drawing, fraction lines or printing on the page, and it does not say whether ads appear.

88. MathsBot Number Line
MathsBot
A number line where you set the begin and end values and the number of partitions, show values as decimals or as mixed, improper or simplified fractions, or hide them, and set a values-revealed percentage with a Refresh button so only a random share of the labels show. A separate Multi-Number Line stacks several lines, with a Rotate switch, hide or show values, a jump box and a font size.
The free part: The number line tools open without paying; a membership removes adverts and adds more resources.
Membership is £3 a month (as of 2026-10-29), per the MathsBot home page, which lists No adverts as a benefit.
Watch for The free version has adverts, since membership lists No adverts as a perk, and we saw no drawing or printing on the lines.

Two simulations on negative numbers. Number Line: Integers compares integers on a line and in an inequality statement and explores absolute value, starting from elevation, account balances and temperature. Number Line: Operations adds and subtracts positive and negative numbers in the context of net worth, then generalizes on a number line, asking students to predict whether the total will be positive or negative.
The PhET site title describes its simulations as free.
Watch for They cover integers and adding and subtracting positives and negatives only; we saw no fraction or decimal lines and nothing to print.

1010. Supercoloring Number Line Generator
Supercoloring
A printable number line maker. Set the start, end and increment (up to 25 intervals a line), the lines per page, and whether every line has the same range, continues the sequence or gets random matching ranges. Labels can be all shown, major only, random gaps, every second or third hidden, or all hidden, with a Scramble button to redo the random parts. It also covers decimals, fractions and negative numbers, and prints as a PDF with name and date lines.
The page says worksheets made with the tool are free to download, print and use, including in commercial projects.
Watch for It prints only, with nothing to project or drag, and the page shows Log in and Sign up links without saying whether the generator needs an account.
