Thirty-six sports words on unique printable cards: games, equipment, roles and values, from soccer, swimming and the relay race to the referee, the whistle and sportsmanship.
36 items · a 5 × 5 card with a free space needs 24 or more. More items make the cards differ. For review bingo, type answer | clue (“56 | 7 × 8”): the card shows the answer, the caller reads the clue. Two columns pasted from a spreadsheet work too. Start a line with an emoji (“🐶 dog”) for a picture square.

About this set
This set is for P.E. class, field day and the sports unit in the library, and it is built so no child feels left out. It lists a wide spread of games (soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, football, volleyball, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, hockey, skiing, track and field, jump rope, karate and wheelchair basketball), the equipment (net, hoop, bat, racket, helmet, whistle) and the roles (coach, referee, team) and values (teamwork, practice, sportsmanship) that go with them. It names no teams, leagues, players or brands. The words are plain enough for kindergarten and varied enough that every child will know at least one square.
Grades: Pre-K to 5th grade. Best in: May, June, September.

How to play, and five ideas
Move it: when a sport is called, the class mimes it for ten seconds (kick, dribble, swim) and then covers the square.
Equipment match: call a piece of equipment (whistle, hoop, racket) and students cover the sport it belongs to if they have it.
Field day warm-up: play the game while teams line up for the relay race, so everyone knows the words they will hear that day.
Sportsmanship talk: when “sportsmanship” or “teamwork” is called, ask for an example from recess and write it on the board.
Kindergarten version: make 3 × 3 cards from the nine most familiar words (soccer, ball, team, goal, net, swimming, running, medal, whistle) and show a picture for each call.
No. The list uses only the names of games, equipment, roles and values, so nothing on it is a trademark or a person. Add your own school’s teams and mascot to the box if you like.
Does it include sports every child can join?
Yes. Jump rope, swimming, running and wheelchair basketball are on the list next to team games, so the squares reflect many ways of being active. Add other adapted sports from your own program.
Can I change the words?
Yes. The 36 words are in the box above the cards. Delete, add or edit any line and the cards are rebuilt at once. Nothing is saved on our servers.
How do I call the game?
Press “Call the game”. Each press of the space bar tumbles the ball cage and pops out the next item in very large type, with the list of items already called beside it. Press C and type a card number to check a winner, P to change the win pattern, V to have each call read aloud, and F to fill the projector.
How do I save the cards as a PDF?
Press Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. Each page can also be saved as a PNG picture from under its preview.
