Quiz show: a multiple-choice game for the board

Turn a list into a multiple-choice quiz with lettered choices, a reveal and optional team scores. One screen, no student devices, and no points for speed.

8 items (up to 40). Put a colon, a tab, a dash with spaces, an equals sign or an arrow between the term and its meaning.

How to use it

  1. Paste your list, then choose what the board shows: the term, the meaning, or a mix. Choose three or four answer choices.
  2. If you want teams, choose how many and type their names. Leave it at none to play without scores.
  3. Press Play. Read the question, let the class decide, then tap the answer they chose, or press Space to show the answer.
  4. Give a point to the teams that were right with the buttons or the number keys, and press Next. The last screen shows the scores.

Ideas for class

  • Use it the day before a test, with the test's own vocabulary as the list.
  • Let each table talk it over for ten seconds and agree on one letter before you reveal. No one wins by being first.
  • Switch to “meaning first” so that students have to produce the term from its definition.
  • Use team names the class chooses, such as colors or animals, and leave out anyone's name.
  • Paste a Set that already has two wrong choices per question, and the quiz uses them.

Questions

Where do the wrong choices come from?

From the other lines in your list, so a list of at least four lines gives four choices. A Set pasted as JSON brings its own two wrong choices, and a number answer can get nearby numbers when the list is short.

Are there points for answering fast?

No. There is no timer and no speed score. The question stays up until you reveal it, so a slow reader is never penalized.

Can I give a point back if I tapped by mistake?

Yes. Tap the team's button again to take the point away, before you press Next.

Is this the same as a game students join on their own devices?

No. This is one screen for the whole room and nothing is sent anywhere. A live game with join codes is a separate project that we have not built.

Nothing you do here is sent to us. Names, lists and settings stay in this browser. No sign-in, no ads.
