The site says it is all free, with an optional suggested donation for My EP. Printable workbooks and offline math, reading and language arts courses are sold in its store.

Watch for It describes itself as a Christian curriculum and includes Bible courses, so secular families will want to skip or swap those parts; printed workbooks cost extra.

2. Discovery K12

Discovery K12

  • Best for a free plan that runs all the way to grade 12
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

A free online homeschool covering Pre-K through 12th grade. The page says free student accounts include all of the curriculum. Standard courses are language arts, reading and literature, math, science, history and social studies, visual and performing arts and physical education, with extras such as Spanish I, HTML, Healthy Living and Personal Finance.

The free part: Student accounts, which the page says include all of the curriculum.

The Parent/Teacher Account, which adds grade books, attendance logs, transcripts and diplomas, is described as an upgraded account; the page we read shows no price.

Watch for Students need a free account, and the pages we read do not say whether the material is secular or how the site is funded.

3. Ambleside Online

AmblesideOnline

  • Best for living-books families who want a free schedule
  • Free

A free homeschool curriculum built on Charlotte Mason's methods, with schedules from Year 0 (kindergarten) through Year 12. The subjects listed include Bible, history, geography, language arts, math, nature study, science, poetry, Shakespeare, hymns, composers and artists. The site also hosts Charlotte Mason's writings and a support forum.

The site says it is provided free for the private use of homeschoolers; it earns affiliate commissions from some book retailers, which it says helps keep it free.

Watch for It describes its founders as Christian homeschooling mothers, and it supplies schedules rather than books, linking to outside retailers for the reading.

4. Khan Academy

Khan Academy

  • Best free add-on for math, science and test prep
  • Free

A nonprofit whose About page lists over 840 free courses for kindergarten through 12th grade and early college, across math, science, English language arts, social studies, economics, computing, life skills and test prep. A free Parent Dashboard lets a parent connect to a child's account and see activity and progress.

Courses and practice are free. Khanmigo, an AI tutor, is a separate optional paid subscription.

Watch for It is a library of courses by subject rather than a day-by-day plan for the year, so a parent chooses and sequences them; learners sign up for a free account.

5. The Good and the Beautiful (free courses)

The Good and the Beautiful

  • Best for free language arts and math for K to 8
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

The company offers free downloadable language arts courses for levels K to 8 and free math courses for levels K through Pre-Algebra. A language arts course covers phonics, reading, writing, spelling, literature, grammar, punctuation, art and geography. For science and history it offers only a few free lessons. It also has a free online spelling program for grades 4 to 8.

The free part: Free downloads of language arts (levels K to 8) and math (levels K to Pre-Algebra), reached by joining the homeschool email list; three free lessons each from one history and one science course.

Other courses and the activity boxes are sold. The math course page we read says a separate math box is also needed to complete the course and is bought separately.

Watch for Its About page calls it a nondenominational Christian curriculum, and the free part is mainly language arts and math, not a full set of subjects.

6. Core Knowledge free curriculum

Core Knowledge Foundation

  • Best for a knowledge-rich, unit-by-unit school-style plan
  • Free plan, paid upgrades

You filter by subject, grade and language, then download single resources or whole units. Subjects include history and geography, language arts, mathematics, science, music and visual arts, with a section for homeschoolers.

The free part: The Download Free Curriculum library, with units for preschool through grade 8.

The home page says many of its publications are free and also links a bookstore.

Watch for Materials are downloaded unit by unit rather than run as one online course, so a parent organises printing and pacing.

7. Under the Home

Under the Home

  • Best for a gentle, ad-free, Charlotte Mason start in K to 5
  • Free

An online homeschool curriculum in the spirit of Charlotte Mason that provides free digital copies of works by artists, composers, authors and poets, along with texts such as Ray's Arithmetic and McGuffey's Readers. Subjects listed include art history, math, music, prose, poetry, reading and writing, phonics, geography, history, science, Shakespeare and grammar.

Watch for Overall it covers kindergarten through 5th grade only, and some art history, history and reading lessons include religious references that parents can skip.

8. Mater Amabilis

Mater Amabilis

  • Best for Catholic families who want a free Charlotte Mason plan
  • Free

A free online curriculum for Catholic homeschoolers, modelled on Charlotte Mason, from a prep level for ages 4 to 6 up to levels for grades 9 to 12. It lists religion, language arts, history, geography and earth studies, Shakespeare, science and nature study, poetry, tales and mythology, picture study, music appreciation and civics.

The site describes itself as free online and accepts voluntary donations; it also includes Amazon affiliate links.

Watch for It is explicitly Catholic, and math did not appear in the lower-level menus we read, so most families will need a separate math program.

9. Oak National Academy

Oak National Academy

  • Best for UK-curriculum lessons, or video lessons to borrow
  • Free

Free, national-curriculum-aligned teaching resources for key stages 1 to 4 in all national curriculum subjects. Each lesson has a pre-recorded video, quizzes and a worksheet, so a child can follow a lesson without a teacher present.

The site describes its resources as free.

Watch for It is made for UK classroom teachers, not homeschoolers: Oak says it offers no personal support, no qualifications and no progress reports, and its lessons use key stages rather than US grades.

  • Illustrative Mathematics: Math only: the site says IM Math v.360 is free through AccessIM, from TK through Algebra 2; paid print and digital options come through partners.
  • OpenSciEd: Science only: elementary, middle and high school curriculum listed at $0 to download, written for educators and schools rather than homeschoolers.
  • CK-12: A nonprofit offering free materials in math, science, English, social studies and more; supplementary, not a full year plan.

How we chose

We weighed these, most important first. The order is our judgement against them, not a score or a vote, and a different teacher could reasonably order it differently.

  1. Really free. The maker's own page says the curriculum can be used at no cost; we note anything sold alongside it.
  2. Covers the year. Spans several subjects with a plan a parent can follow, rather than a single subject or a loose library.
  3. Easy for a parent who is not a teacher. Ready-made lessons and clear daily direction, with little to build or buy first.
  4. Grade range. How many grades the free material reaches, since some stop in elementary or middle school.
  5. Clear about faith. Whether the maker's page says the material is faith-based, so families can choose with their eyes open.

We took no money, free products or affiliate commissions for any place on this list, and no link here carries a tracking code. Every fact was read on the maker’s own page on October 27, 2026; prices carry that date because they change. See how we choose and the ad-free promise.

Questions

Is there a completely free homeschool curriculum?
Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool says it is all free, with an optional donation, and Ambleside Online says it is provided free for homeschoolers. Under the Home says there is no cost to use the site. Printed workbooks, books and some materials may still cost money.
